There is nothing that annoys me more than when political fliers assume that my level of intelligence is that of a monkey.  No one is going to trust your brand if you make them feel like your brand has thoroughly disrespected them.  It can be creative to be controversial, but be very careful around this line because your image and brand has too much to lose if you go overboard.

2.  A New Angle

You have heard the saying, "think outside of the box"?  Well, don't do that, look at this box from a whole new angle instead.  When you are thinking outside of the box you will get subjective ideas and they may be very hard to relate to or so far out there that the average consumer is going to be very confused.  Your brand needs to respect your target markets level of intelligence not compete with it.  You should talk to them on the personal level,  you do not want to shake up or even leave their "box".  But what you need to do is to look to your left, right and stand in a new place so you can view things with a new angle.

3.  Think about ways you can help the community, your brand and your consumer.

You will greatly benefit from building a reliable, trusted community of clients that will speak very highly of you and will also continue to use your products.  To support the company, community and consumer, some of the smaller brands choose to have local sponsorships or they may just rely on the service of word-of-mouth.  Yet, there are a lot of different ways to break the bustle and hustle and put the spotlight onto a great win-win-win for everyone.

4.  Catch people in their routines

It's getting so there are so many advertisements that we actually see thousands every day and most of the time we see them and then forget them.  Yet, if you use some unconventional materials or perhaps an unusual presentation then you can halt people right where they stand and make them step back and ask, "what was that?'
